New cookie recipe

Thursday night Trey and I had my Apples of Gold banquet at Church. The nursery provided pizza for all the kids and I thought it would be fun to make them a dessert. So, I found a recipe and of course I modified it to try and make it "healthier", by adding my whole wheat flour. I really liked that the recipe already included oats. LOVE all the fiber and unrefined foods :)

Abigail and I made these cookies for her "friends" .

Choc-oat-chip cookies

1 cup of whole wheat floor
3/4 cups of all purpose floor
1tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 Tbsp. milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups quick or old fashioned oats
2 cups of chocolate chips of your choosing

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in small bowl. Beat brown sugar, butter and granulated sugar in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in eggs, milk and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in oats and chips. Mix well.
Drop rounded tablespoons of the dough onto ungreased baking sheet. ( I lined mine with foil)

Bake for 9-10 minutes for Chewy cookies or 12-13 for crispy. (We def. go for the chewy around here)

*It makes a lot of dough. It says 4 dozen cookies. I just baked what I needed for the first night and then put my mixer bowl, with snap on lid, in the fridge. So we were able to eat fresh hot cookies when we wanted. I just used the rest of the dough to make cookie bars.

Hope you enjoy! We thought they were great :)

30 Week Check up

In the waiting room
Trying to wait patiently in the room.

Waiting to see Sister

Abigail trying to figure out what is going on.

Tuesday I had a ultrasound scheduled at my check up. So, I took Trey and the kiddos to see Rebekah for the first time.

Samuel had no idea what was going on, Hannah said the heart beat scared her, Abigail was ALL about it asking lots of questions and excited, Daddy was a little anxious about having all three kids in such a small room with expensive medical equipment, and me well... I am the Mom. :)

Aquarium field trip

Last Friday we took a field trip with our local home school group to the Downtown Aquarium and Resturant in Houston. Trey took some time off work and was thankfully able to take us on the special trip. It was a great family day looking at fish and riding rides. It was a such a special treat to have Daddy with us for the day!!

Happy Valentines Day

Hope yall had a Happy love filled day!
We started with our now normal Sunday morning breakfast as a family. Then after Church I made the kids heart shaped sandwiches and then it was blessed Nap time. After nap the kids played outside while my Valentine started one of his gourmet creations and I decorated the table for the big meal. Here are some small, sorry they are from my phone, pictures of dinner.

Updates

Sorry I have not been posting much lately. I lost the memory stick to the camera and so I have not been taking many pics. I thought I needed to give a quick update.

Abigail- Such a "big girl" it makes me want to cry. She loves, most of the time, to be my helper. She does a great job setting the table and even sweep under the table the other day. Still loves her Daddy more than anything else in the world! More than chocolate, Lambie, her blanket, even pizza.

Hannah- So excited for the baby to come out, She talks about her baby sister in Mommy's tummy often. She even colored Rebekah a Valentine picture the other day and I told her I would hang it on her wall. She really like that idea. She also really loves sharing a room and nap time with Samuel. She is a great BIG sister! She has started calling me "Big Mama", which I may take offense to if it weren't true.

Samuel- Is really starting to talk. Said, "Wove Wou" the other day. He even tried to say "Happy Valentines Day". LOVES outside and the puppies. Still occasionally eats dirt BUT still the CUTEST little boy in the whole wide world. Calls me "Mom MA".

Rebekah- will be out in a little over 2 months. This pregnancy has gone by really fast. Her room is still not finished, but I am picking a mattress up from a friend tomorrow. Yeah, one thing we can check off the list. She is making Me bigger by the minute.

Letting go

I have always enjoyed doing crafts with the girls. I guess I first noticed my need to control when we were working on one of our Christmas crafts. They made wreaths out of paper plates, one of our favorite holiday crafts. Let me start by saving that at the beginning you have to "help" because they are not capable of doing it on their own. As we made our Christmas wreaths I noticed it really bothered me if a sticker was put on upside down or if the glitter didn't go where I thought it should go. So, not wanting to squash creativity, I tried to "guide" as they made their creations.

The new development at our house is... that the girls are now old enough to create on the own, that is right without Mama's help.

February brought the great holiday of Valentines and I love to make CUTE homemade Valentines to send to the grandparents and give to Daddy. In the past I have always done really cute pictures with their hand prints. I mean frame worthy not just fridge art. I take great pride in these crafts. So, you see my delima here. To help, guide, interject, suggest or not to help, guide, interject, or suggest. Tough choice for me! I took the high road, some of the time with a fake smile on my face, and let the girls do all the creating on the own.

They decided they wanted to start with a website that we use for "school" to make the card. They were asked to choose words to string together a necklace that would have a Valentine saying on it. Then after it was printed they were supposed to color it and trace the letters to sign the card. I will be really honest, it was hard for me to mail them, they were not as "pretty" as I like. So, sorry to the receivers if you were a little disappointed when you opened the envelopes. And also, I will work on Letting go!
