Little man of few words.

Me: "Samuel are you playing in the mud?" Samuel: "Yes!" Me: "Is that fun?" Samuel: "Yes!" and those of you who know Samuel well know that his "Yes" is adorable. I am still not used to this man of few words thing. Although I will say, his few words have LOTS of meaning and emotion. He definitely gets his point across.

This is just another way the Lord has shown me how wonderful and different He has made each of my children. Abigail's response would have been very matter of fact but she would have told me what she was doing with the mud. Hannah's response would have been a "story" about what she was doing with the mud and would have without a doubt included her imaginary Grandma, that we now know lives in Germany. Also her hands would be used at all times to tell the story and there may or may not have been some dancing involved.

Wow, Kids are great! Well I guess I should not speak for everyone... WOW, MY KIDS ARE GREAT!!!

p.s. If you dont think your kids are great, contact me. I would love to help you make your kids great.

Mother's Day

I had a great Mother's Day weekend. It was really fun this year because the girls are old enough now that they get very excited about celebrating holidays and have talked about Mother's day and what they "wanted" to get me for what seems like forever now.

Abigail went into the store alone with Daddy on Wednesday afternoon and picked out my present. She did such a good job, she was dieing to tell me what it was. But with only a few reminders not to tell she was able to keep it a secret until Sunday :) We knew Hannah wanted to get me roses, because she told me about 1,000 times :) So, Trey took her into the store by herself on Sunday after Church to pick them out. She was not as good at "keeping the secret". She told me, "I know these are roses Mommy but you cant open them yet, you have to be patient and just not look at them." LOL, She also told me about my cake and candies.

Saturday we went down to the Woodlands to try and new fancy HEB to do our grocery shopping. I was able to find some great organic dairy products :) Also, Trey sat in the car with the kids while they watched a movie so I could go in to a cute little shoppe and pick out my Mother's day gift from him. It was such a nice treat to get to go look around at pretty stuff all by myself! Sunday after Church we headed home for yummy sandwiches made by Daddy and then I opened my cards and the girls gave me their presents. here are some pics of my loot.

The really cute red shoes and bangles from Trey. I also got a cute summer shirt but bought it for my post pregnancy body.

The beautiful roses that my Hannah Rose picked out for me.

I am sorry that this picture is so small because these sun glasses are GREAT!! Abigail picked them out all by herself :) Trey said they were in the store and she said, " I want to get Mommy some sunglasses for Mother's day. He said, "OK." He told me that he tried to give her some choices and she said, "No Daddy these!" How adorable and I will wear them with great pride :) Not sure if you can tell but the ear piece parts are white with hot pink polka dots and the eye part is HOT pink. Definitely 90's style, I LOVE THEM! :)

Sunday after nap we relaxed and Trey grilled some delicious venison back strap with baked potatoes and green beans. Of course we topped it all off with some yummy chocolate cake for dessert. Every time Samuel sees the cake he says, " ake, yum... and then makes a slurp sound"

Happy Mother's Day 2010! I hope yours was as great as mine!

Letting go

I have always enjoyed doing crafts with the girls. I guess I first noticed my need to control when we were working on one of our Christmas crafts. They made wreaths out of paper plates, one of our favorite holiday crafts. Let me start by saving that at the beginning you have to "help" because they are not capable of doing it on their own. As we made our Christmas wreaths I noticed it really bothered me if a sticker was put on upside down or if the glitter didn't go where I thought it should go. So, not wanting to squash creativity, I tried to "guide" as they made their creations.

The new development at our house is... that the girls are now old enough to create on the own, that is right without Mama's help.

February brought the great holiday of Valentines and I love to make CUTE homemade Valentines to send to the grandparents and give to Daddy. In the past I have always done really cute pictures with their hand prints. I mean frame worthy not just fridge art. I take great pride in these crafts. So, you see my delima here. To help, guide, interject, suggest or not to help, guide, interject, or suggest. Tough choice for me! I took the high road, some of the time with a fake smile on my face, and let the girls do all the creating on the own.

They decided they wanted to start with a website that we use for "school" to make the card. They were asked to choose words to string together a necklace that would have a Valentine saying on it. Then after it was printed they were supposed to color it and trace the letters to sign the card. I will be really honest, it was hard for me to mail them, they were not as "pretty" as I like. So, sorry to the receivers if you were a little disappointed when you opened the envelopes. And also, I will work on Letting go!

Moments

I really need to do this more often, Share the sweet and funny things my girls say. They really are great talkers. We have some fantastic conversations! Here is one from this morning.

I was helping Hannah in the bathroom...

Me, "Hannah you already have your panties on?!"
Hannah,"Yes while you were sleeping, cause I didn't want to wake up my baby hiser"
Me, "What a big girl!"
Hannah, "I am ready for my baby hiser to come out!"
Me, "Smoooooch, You are precious in my sight!"

Lord, Thank you for My precious precious children!

* I am including this adorable pic of her with her Daddy from this morning. She feed ALL her babies on the couch and then piled all of them on her Daddy's lap. She told him..

Hannah, "Now dont get up cause they will fuss."

Daddy, ... BIG smile

Big Girl

No more diapers for Hannah, She is officially potty trained!! Yeah, she poo poos and tee tees in the potty all the time. I still put a pull up on her at nap but she just with in the past few days has even been waking dry from nap. So, we will be taking her to pick out some of her own panties very soon, she and sister have been sharing the same stash. Very excited but it is a little weird only having one diaper wearer in the house :) 2 down ? many more to go.

Fun Friday

Friday the kids and I had a GREAT day! I finished planting the garden while they kids played outside. Then we walked, Samuel included, to our "neighbors" about 150 yards away. I wish someone had been there to take our picture. Oh well, let me correct myself, I wish we hadn't been covered in dirt and someone had been there to take our picture. I looked like a Mama duck with my ducklings all in a row. We had a jolly time jumping on their trampoline. Then we headed home for baths and made homemade peanut butter for lunch. What a fantastic Friday with my fabulous kids!

A Mother's love

This evening I am overwhelmed with my love and adoration for my handsome son Samuel. I mean seriously, he could not be any cuter if he tried, and I think he knows it! I absolutely love everything about him! I love the way he says "Mama". Yes, he is finally saying my name. I have been waiting to hear that precious name come from his mouth! I love his giggle and the way he LAUGHS out loud when we smooch his neck or rub his tummy. And Yes, sorry dentist, I love the way he sucks those two fingers. I love that he rubs on his ear when he gets sleepy and I love watching him cuddled up in his bed with his blankie. But most of all I LOVE the gift that the Lord gave to me in the life of my "Smiling Samuel" I look forward to watching him grow and seeing what my Lord has in store for his life.

*Here are just a few pictures, so that those of you who don't know him can
grasp the magnitude of his cuteness :)
