Easter 2011

We love to celebrate Easter in Corpus Christi with my parents.  It is a wonderful time with family and a great way to usher in Spring with the warm temps and all the water.  This year the big kids were little fish at my parent's swim club and we also enjoyed a couple parks.  Resurrection day was a great day of celebration that consisted of Resurrection rolls, Church, Easter egg hunts and playing at the park.  We had a Wonderful time away from East texas with MeMe and PawPaw. 

154 Days of Valentines

Febuary 1st each year starts the "14 Days of Valentines" for my Trey and I. He was a totally unexpected recipient of " The 14 days" that first year.  I still remember knocking on the door of his apartment with the baked good in my hand and the smile on his face when I said, "Welcome to the first day of Valentines!" This year we are married for ten years and plus the year of our engagement, equals 154 days of Valentines.  WOW, that is a lot of Valentines! It is a tradition that I started the year that we got engaged and we have "vowed" to continue it as a means to show our kiddos that True Love Never Ends and that their Mommy and Daddy are still crazy in love with one another :)

Here is how it works:

We alternate years and one of us creates a Valentine for each days, which usually contains a treat that we eat. The way to a Krum's heart really is through their stomach, we like to eat!  Most of the "cards" have been homemade but have ranged from card to, homemade puzzles, riddle with clues to finally be solved on the last day, to memory books with pages distributed each day.  The person that is not making the "cards" is in charge of planning the actually Valentines Day celebration. We have had fun through the years, some years better/more creative than others, but we have not missed a year yet.

Thanksgiving

We hosted Krum Thanksgiving this year.  It was great! Thankfully the cold weather held off until right before everyone was leaving so the kids still got to have a fun time playing outside.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is one of my favorite ministries, the ministry update video makes me cry each time I see it.  The fact that a little box can make such a difference in a child's life is so beautiful to me.  Check out this link to learn more about this amazing ministry. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/index/

We took the kiddos shopping to fill their boxes last Wednesday before Awana. We shopped for one little boy and one little girl.  Then Saturday afternoon we packed our boxes so that they would be ready to deliver to Church on Sunday.  We cant wait to track our boxes online and pray for the little boy and girl that will receive them.

This can be such a busy time of year for many and has become SO VERY COMMERCIALIZED. We try to take time with our family to truely savor the meaning of the season, the birth of our Savior.  This is one of the ways that we try to make Christmas about Christ.  We hope to shower our Savior with gifts that our pleasing to Him. 

4th of July Weekend

My Apples of Gold Bible study planned a picnic for Saturday the 3rd. So despite the bad weather forecast we loaded up the clan and headed to Huntsville. The rain stayed away just long enough for the kids to have a great time playing and for us all to get sweaty worn out. Here are some pics from the pic.






After the picnic we headed home for showers and some quick rest time before we headed back to Huntsville for dinner at "Cowboy Mark's" house. The rain kept us from visiting the cows this time but we had a delicious BBQ dinner, the girls played with Mark and Leslie's daughter and Samuel helped entertain the crowd between rounds. Yes, it was a fight night. Rebekah is such an easy sweet baby. she was just happy being passed around and then finally passed out on the quest bed. So, I was actually able to stay awhile and enjoy the festivities. It was a nice treat considering I thought that I would be taking the kids home shortly after "normal" bedtime.

Sunday after our normal nap routine Trey grilled a delicious dinner and then we headed into New Waverly for the firework show. Rebekah was a little worn out from our Saturday night party so I held her in the car while she tried to sleep. The show was impressive considering, well considering that this is just New Waverly, TX. We had a FUN filled exhausting weekend.

Easter 2010

He is RISEN, He LIVES indeed!

We had a Great weekend celebrating and talking about the death and resurrection of Jesus with the kids. Friday after a relaxing morning the girls and I made a craft that MeMe sent and then joined the boys outside to play in the sunshine. The girls had a b-day party after nap and then we all headed to a special Easter worship service at Church. Saturday we attended the Family Easter celebration at Church were the kids had a devotional, hunted eggs and had lots of fun activities. After the celebration we headed home for a picnic in the sunshine and much needed nap :) Saturday evening we decorated our eggs. Sunday morning the girls helped me make resurrection rolls for breakfast and then we headed off to Church. We gave them their Easter treats that evening and were/are def. into the candy. So is Mom :) I hope you all had a great weekend celebrating the RISEN SAVIOR.

Happy Valentines Day

Hope yall had a Happy love filled day!

We started with our now normal Sunday morning breakfast as a family. Then after Church I made the kids heart shaped sandwiches and then it was blessed Nap time. After nap the kids played outside while my Valentine started one of his gourmet creations and I decorated the table for the big meal. Here are some small, sorry they are from my phone, pictures of dinner.

Merry Christmas 2009

We had a nice relaxing cold, but not white, Christmas at home. Our German neighbors, Karim and Kim, came to join us for the holiday celebrating. I LOVE to entertain and love the extra people around. Christmas Eve we had venison stew for dinner and then went to Christmas Eve service at our Church. Church was followed by a drive around to look at Christmas lights, I hope our friends were not disappointed, I know I was. People in Huntsville don't seem to get much into outdoor light :( I you knew the neighborhood that I grew up in you would understand my disappointed. We are talked wrapped tree trucks, themed streets and the works. We got the kids tucked in after a little bit of Christmas candy and us grown ups stayed up to the wee hours playing dominoes. Fun time!

After stockings on Christmas morning, in our matching PJs neighbors and all, we stuffed ourselves on my yummy Christmas breakfast. After breakfast we played and relaxed until nap time. Our Christmas viewing of "The Nativity Story", or "Baby Jesus in the Manger movie" as the kids call it was after nap and then we had a delicious Christmas dinner of ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, salad and rolls. The we decorated Jesus birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday before the kids dug in, all the grown ups were too full for dessert :)
